The oil pump is very important in the lubrication system of the engine. It is responsible for generating oil pressure to deliver oil to various moving surfaces and provide lubrication. If the oil pump fails to pump oil, the engine will be scrapped immediately! This is a small oil pump, this is for motorcycles, hehe, it's the same. It belongs to the internal gear pump and is widely used. The internal rotor of the gear is the driving wheel, and the external rotor is responsible for the driven wheel. It can be seen that this is eccentric and not in the center. The gear design is very clever, keeping the internal and external rotors in contact every moment! Adding gears rotates clockwise, and the volume of the left area will increase, creating negative pressure. The volume increase is compared to the bottom area! When rotating to the center, the volume reaches its peak, and then the volume on the right side gradually decreases, squeezing out the oil inside! This type of gear maintains contact between the inner and outer gears during operation and will not leak! In an involute gear pump with internal meshing, a crescent shaped partition should be installed between the small gear and the internal gear to separate the oil suction chamber and the oil pressure chamber, as shown in Figure (a); Cycloid toothed gear pump, also known as cycloidal rotor pump, is a type of pump in which the small gear and the internal gear differ by only one tooth, so there is no need to set a partition, as shown in Figure (b). The small gear in the internal gear pump is the driving wheel, and the large gear is the driven wheel. During operation, the large gear rotates in the same direction as the small gear. There are various types of oil pumps, and generally, changing the work can easily generate a vacuum to extract the working medium and then reduce the working volume to pressurize and transport the working medium! Common hydraulic pumps include external gear pumps, internal gear pumps, rotary pumps, and vane pumps. For oil pumps in automotive lubrication systems, commonly used are external gear pumps, internal gear pumps, and rotary pumps!
