The characteristics of thin and thick plates in metal stamping processing

Release time:2025-01-07     Number of views :

Stamping plants often use thin plates and thick plates in Metal Stamping. Generally, those with a standard thickness of more than 4mm are thick plates, and those with a thickness of less than 4mm are called thin plates. The properties of the two are the same under the same material, and in actual situations, they can be selected according to specific products. Here is a brief introduction to the characteristics of thin plates and thick plates:

First, thin plate

1. During stamping, if the die gap is less than a reasonable gap, the sheet will crack, and the cracks are prone to overlap. The smaller the thickness, the smaller the crack length, and the smaller the gap in the stamping die.

2. The resilience is large, but the thin material with better section quality is easy to deform during the stamping process. After stamping, the workpiece will rebound greatly when it is restored to its original shape. Due to the thin thickness and the high straightness of the stamping section and appearance, the quality of the stamped parts produced will be better.

3. The thin plate has a smaller stamping gap, and generally stamping requires higher accuracy. The cooperation between the die base guide column and the guide sleeve should reach h6/h5, and the rolling guide sleeve structure should be used to fix the production. 1. When punching thick plates, there is a larger stamping gap.

2. The deformation pressure emitted during metal stamping is proportional to the thickness of the material. When adjusting the punch, it should be noted that the impulse setting should be less than the allowable limit strength of the punch. The hardening phenomenon is relatively large, and the shear strength of the sheet is greater than that of the sheet;

3. The dimensional accuracy and surface treatment effect of stamped parts will be affected by the thickness of the sheet, requiring additional refurbishment procedures to improve accuracy.
